Beep, beep, beep, beep, bee-
Hyukjae's hand came down hard on the plastic alarm clock, silencing it with a harsh slapping sound that made Donghae wince for the poor alarm clock.
Hyukjae fell back down on the bed again, letting out a slow stream of curse words directed at its existence and rubbing his eyes. Donghae dragged the blanket up over their heads and sighed sleepily, putting his arm across Hyukjae's body.
"Get up," Hyukjae said insincerely, "we have to go."
"Later," Donghae breathed.
"The alarm went off," he moaned incoherently, his words slurred together by drowsiness.
Donghae opened his eyes slowly and put his hands over Hyukjae's ears.
"Pretend you didn't hear it," he said, nuzzling his head into Hyukjae's shoulder.
"I did hear it."
"No." Donghae smiled and put his hand over Hyukjae's eyes, closing them like as effectively as a sleeping mask. Hyukjae sighed and drifted in and out of sleep for a minute, the warmth of his bed and the other boy's body pressed closely against his like a soft cloud filling his head, insisting upon his falling asleep again.
"Donghae," he said, turning onto his stomach and burying his face in his pillow.
"You know we have to get up, don't you?"
Donghae sat up on his elbows and blinked blearily at the window. It was still dark outside. His eyes fell on Hyukjae and he played with his hair, running his fingers down to his neck and rubbing it gently, resisting the temptation to lay his head down on his shoulder and go back to sleep.
"Come on," he said softly, kissing the middle of his back.
"Don't want to," he moaned. "Too tired."
"I'm tired too." He rested his forehead on him.
"Screw schedules," Hyukjae said bitterly, pushing himself up. He sat on the edge of the bed and reached for the lamp blindly, searching for the switch for a whole minute before finding it and turning it on. He stood up, almost falling over as he reoriented himself to being vertical.
He walked to the door and opened it. He took a step out and then his eyes found the sand bag on the floor. He stared at the lines of ribbons leading up from it, too tired to be surprised by anything.
"What the hell is this?" Hyukjae squinted at the bunch of balloons hovering outside his door.
"What is it?" Donghae asked from the bed, shielding his eyes from the light.
Warily, Hyukjae reached forward and pulled a balloon down by a note taped to it.
April Fool's! Go back to sleep!
He blankly stared at the note, his mouth slightly ajar. April Fool's?
He shut the door and banged his forehead against it. Donghae laughed uncertainly and asked him what was going on again.
He turned around and fell back onto the bed, fuming.
"I hate everyone," Hyukjae moaned into his pillow. "What day is it today?"
Hyukjae looked up at him and waited for him to make the mental connection. Donghae laughed after a moment and hid his face in his palm, wearing an embarrassed smile. Hyukjae took a deep breath and pulled the blanket back up.
They looked at each other, and Hyukjae leaned over him to kiss him. Donghae caught his hand and twined their fingers together as Hyukjae curled up next to him again.
"Dream of a way to get back at them."
